Pumping Up My Sentence

In my writing group we were learning about Pumping up our sentences so that our writing is more interesting to read. Check out some of the work I have been doing below.

Pump up your sentence!
WALT: use different sentence structures for effect.

Short sentences: (3-4 words only)
I enjoy Horse riding.
Hana enjoys Horse riding.
We love horse riding.

Compound sentences: (a comma is used, then a conjunction)
Horse riding also involves grooming, so we groom the horses.
We need to wear a helmet when we are horse riding, so we wear helmets.
It’s better to use a saddle when horse riding, therefore I use a saddle.

Subject first:
Horse riding is fun.
Horse riding is a sport.
Horse riding is great.

Adjectives first: (describe the subject)
Sticky mud dries up on the hooves of the horse.
Soft fur is activated after grooming.
Heavy saddles are lifted onto the horse.

Adverbs first: (how is the doing happening? Comma after adverb)
Carefully, I jump over the painted logs.
Galloping, the horse runs away.
Gracefully, I watch Teifi Canter.
