Cafe Day!

On Thursday November 1st our Moana Learning Hub held a cafe day. We decided to do this for last terms topic, actions speak louder than words. Our goal was to invite elderly from our community to serve them with food and drink for free!

In the morning we started to set up. Tables and chairs were coming in, vases and flowers, table cloths, fragile China, bunting, food and lots more! As we set up, the rain was doing its thing outside. After maybe an hour and a half of pushing and tidying we were finished. We chose our badges and waited for people to arrive.

When orders started coming in we were pouring cups of tea and coffee in the kitchen. Charlie K, Karma, Henry, Bjorn and I were caterers. The boys were in charge of the coffee and the girls took orders and poured cups of tea. More and more orders started coming in and the stress started to come in as well. Some performers took the stage while people enjoyed their meals.

Slowly the people were leaving. When we finally got to the end, the rain kept going down and we carried tables back to classes. The hall didn't look as beautiful as it did before. Our goal was a success and we went back to class.
