Kapa Haka Festival!

On the 21st of November our school entered the Turanganui Kapa Haka festival. We sang about 6 songs! There were so many schools, every one of them were amazing singers. I may have mucked up on the poi but I reckon nobody noticed. We performed at the A+P showgrounds.

In the morning while we were at school, the teachers were putting mokos on our chins and for the boys it was their entire face. The girls had their hair half up half down with a bright, yellow feather sticking out of our hair. Later on, around morning tea time us girls  put on our dresses 👗. The boys had to come to school with black shorts because they were doing the haka.

Time passed by and we were hopping on the bus. Kya and I sat in our seats while the other girls on our bus were screaming, singing and playing hand games. About 15 minutes passed and we were there. When we got in the big building, we took a seat below the stage. One school went then after that we went back out into a gazebo. We stayed in there for a while. After that we grabbed our poi and went back into the building through the back door to backstage. It wasn't long until we were up on stage performing our significant school song. When we were done, we went back on the bus, back to school. That was the end.
